a possible solution...

...to my Margiela shoe OBSESSION:

They are the Triumphh from the king of knock-offs, Mr. Steve Madden. Obv I love the Margiels more but the thicker strap across the toes might make them easier to walk in and therefore a bit more practical. They're only available for pre-order now and they won't be shipped until October sometime. But since they cost approx 1/5 of the real Margielas I found on yoox or eluxury or something, these lovlies are actually do-able. They also come in black suede (kinda boring) and purple suede (surprisingly cute and interesting). I would most likely stick with the taupe.

Looks like it might a Steve Madden fall....
These are the Ginn bootie. Personally, I like the black version better but I put this picture up because the bronze metallic showed off the details better. Definitely a possibility..
Ah and here we have the Midory peep toe bootie. They have it in a bunch of colors and fabrics, but I am drawn to this black patent. The black and pewter leather ones are nice too, but they are a bit too similar to my other Steve Madden peep toe booties. Plus this one would look good with the whole skinny jean, motorcycle jacket, rock star boyfriend look I'm going for.

Here is the famous SATC knock-off heel, the Maddiee. I figure if I went crazy and got it in the green snake, it would look so .. knock-off-y. These would definitely add some visual interest to any plain outfit. And I'm not usually a green snakeskin kinda girl, but I could see myself in these.

Last night I went to the craft store and bought black dye, and also a kind of bleach dye. I also bought more suede straps to make more headbands (!!) and necklace clasps so I can stop using string and scissors every time I want to put my homemade necklaces on or take them off. I also went to CVS and bought off-white tights (and deodorant and sour watermelons) to begin my DIY ombre tights experiment. Hopefully tonight!

Peace and cheap knock-offs,

fashion shoot

Get pumped!! Fashion pictures!! Here are the shoes I bought last week, the ones that I said I probably wouldn't have tried on before I started blogging and reading other fashion blogs. I probably would have thought they were interesting but not wearable but now that I have expanded my fashion horizons, I can think of a few things to wear them with...

They are actually Steve Madden Madden Girl, which is strange because they look rather grown up, no? Like something a school teacher would wear. A sexy schoolteacher...

They look cute with skinny jeans. I need to find a good shirt. Perhaps a button down to go along with the whole school vibe. I think they will be a good 'transition into fall' shoe.

Here they are with my velvety Free People dress. Ignore the bed without sheets. Pay attention to the shag carpet and the trunk with all my concert tickets.

Peace and too much posting,

unexpected choices

I hit up King of Prussia after work yesterday. I went into DSW first, which was a mistake I guess because I ended up spending like $100... The first pair of shoes I got is purely an influence of reading fashion blogs. I can't imagine myself even giving these shoes a second look let alone trying them on and buying them before I became so enthralled with the fashion blog world. I was just going to post a generic picture of the shoes from the web but I think I'll save it and actually post an outfit picture with them. I also picked up this hot pair of Steve Madden platform heels. Apparently Karla from Karla's Closet thought they were awesome and amazing as well, cause she bought them too and you can see her in them here. Adorable, no? Can't wait to wear them.

I strolled over to Bloomingdales and it was kind of underwhelming. I tried on a few things but I only ended up getting this one Free People dress.

It's really pretty. I'm not sure if it will look ok as a night-time-going-out dress, but we'll see....

I went to Urban on my way out and I tried on eight dresses and I didn't get a single one! That bubble one looked absolutely ridiculous, as predicted. I have no idea how people can pull those crazy things off. I almost got that beautiful green dress with the pink buttons that I've talked about a bunch of times but I resisted again. Not sure why. There were some cute dresses but none of them were worth their price tags, in my opinion.

Last night we went to trivia at this bar in West Chester. We started off pretty strong, and peaked in the second round. Some highlights:

In the season finale of Seinfeld, what was the jail sentence for the characters?

What is the only vegetable that uses all 5 vowels?

Name the counties in NJ that end in -sex.

What was baby's real name in Dirty Dancing?

What does MAC stand for (as in MAC machine)?

What is inside popcorn kernels that make them 'pop'?

We were doing pretty well and then we answered like 2 question in the last 2 rounds, so unfortunately we did not win. It was still very fun though! Anything involving towers of beer and my friends is always a good time.

Peace and hot platform heels,

fashion advice

Obviously, I get a TON of people asking me for fashion advice. It's practically impossible to answer all of the questions here, but for you, my loyal fans, I try to tackle the more important fashion queries.

Laura K of Dirty Jerz writes:
"I'm in search of the perfect espadrille shoe. One that will not only look adorable, but is easy to walk in and cheap enough so that I can buy multiple pairs because I know I will destroy them this summer. Please help, you fashion goddess you!"

Good question, Laur. Now this is probably not your problem personally, but I know a few of my friends tend to drink too much, stumble, and sometimes even fall (gracefully, of course). So stability is obviously of the utmost
importance. Comfort ranks at a close second. Hey, if they're not comfortable, you won't wear them. Price comes in a far third. So here I go, doing some homework.

Personally, I need to be strapped into high shoes pretty tightly or else I won't be able to walk properly. My personal preference would be either a sling back or ankle strap version. I don't really like the tie up ones, they tend to be pretty uncomfortable. So my picks are going to be pretty biased. I think white is a delightful summer shoe color, but for the purpose of looking pretty, I'll try to use colorful examples.

Here is the Calistaa yellow patent T-strap espadrille by Steve Madden. T-straps are just adorable. Steve Madden shoes are usually pretty comfortable. The height looks wearable. I only wish it were in yellow linen or some fabric other then patent. It's $89.95.
Here is another option. They're by Jessica Simpson. They are the 'Guama' wedge sandal. This pair is $79. They're cute, nothing super special really. They come in black and white also. They seem like a good height as well. Maybe if they made your legs look like Jessica's, then they would have something there.

I couldn't really find many other cute options online at the moment. BUT! Check out SteveMadden.com and go to the design your own section because they have a TON of different kinds of espadrilles (for example, DYO Ligerr, Cougerr, and Jaguarr.) ranging from $90 to $100. My favorite would be the DYO Ligerr. It could be dressy or casual depending on how you designed it.

New mission: finding adorable green sneakers for my all day St. Patty's celebration next Saturday.

Peace and Espadrilles,

shopping extravaganza

So my fashion fast has FINALLY ended and yesterday I spent the majority of the day shopping. I met some of my college ladies at King of Prussia and let's just say it was a very successful trip. This new stuff from Juicy not only has a nautical theme (love) but also beautiful colors, mainly green, yellow, and blue (love love). I picked up this lovely printed jersey A-Line in green (shown here in blue; much cuter in green if you ask me...). It's definitely not a cold weather outfit but it makes me so excited for the spring and summer!!

Check out these hot sexy black heels from Steven by Steve Madden. I saw these and I knew immediately I would have to have them. I actually wore them out this weekend with my skinny jeans and my teal Betsey Johnson polka dot flowy dress thingy. They were about as comfortable as heel that high can be. You're pretty strapped in there so they were easy to walk in and I only almost fell twice (a record for me, I tend to fall alot. )

At the end of the day we left the mall to hit up Antropologie (my new favorite store). They have a whole freaking collection of nautical themed clothing which I love. I had originally planned on getting this red Coxswain cardigan. It's pretty adorable with little anchors all over it and a large blue anchor on the front, but it's a tad bold and expensive for everyday wear.

Instead I went with the more shall I say understated Aye Aye Cartigan with sailboats all over it. I like it because its a little longer and baggier and much softer (ahhh...) not to mention a tad cheaper then the Coxswain.

So it was pretty successful. I also made some other fashion decisions: 1. I tried on the Ed Hardy 'Love Kills Slowly' sunglasses at Nordstrom and LOVED them so I have decided to buy them with my next paycheck. What I have no decided is to get them in black or brown. Since they are so bold, I will also need another pair of sunglasses for everyday wear and those will be either in black or brown (whichever color I don't pick for the Hardy's obv). 2. I found this gorgeous Via Spiga brown tweed coat at Loehmans for about a million percent off the orignal price but for some reason I did not immediatly buy it. Still can't figure that one out but it was for the best since we had our first shore payment due today. Still thinking about going back and picking that up (after the next paycheck, of course.) 3. I need to stop buying so many beautiful things...

Peace and sailboats,

TheFashionHead
