pretty dress

I was checking out the Urban website and one of the dresses I bought is up on there now. I was immediately drawn to this dress because of the beautiful colors and the ombre bottom and the graphic top and the shape ...ok basically everything about it.

It's not really a 'going out' dress but I'm thinking it will work for my sister's graduation or maybe a family shore party.

Ohh they have a ton of cute jewelry... Might have to make a stealth purchase at work...

I went to Loehmann's to use my 20% coup. I was THIS CLOSE to buying another pair of the DKNY Bailey wedges that I got last time just to have a backup (yes, they are THAT good) but there was another DKNY sandal that caught my eye. It's an espadrille and it ties around your ankle. I usually don't go for the tie sandals because I can never tie them right and they always come loose and undone but these were different because you only tie them once (meaning you don't have to wrap them around your ankles) so they were more comfortable. I also picked up a pair of Paige jean shorts, which is a pretty bold move. Hopefully I actually wear them... I got 2 Free People sarongs for the beach mainly cause they were on sale and they came with a little instruction book with 5 ways to tie them, adorable. I also got 2 necklaces; one is gold with a coral octopus, and one is a giant gold lobster. They're pretty hilarious. I can't wait to wear them down the shore and feel like an old lady. (16 days, but who's counting?)

Now for some quick product reviews: I got a new lip balm from Bath and Body Works. It's by C.O. Bigelow and its lemon flavored and it's delightful. I also got this 'tan extender' spray which you're supposed to spray on yourself after you go tanning or layout to extend the tan. I used it this past weekend before going out and it was way too glittery and I didn't like it at all... But I feel like I'll be more inclined to use it down this shore where being covered in gold giltter is more socially acceptable... We'll see. Also, an update: the perfume I got from Victoria's secret is still awesome and smells lovely and I haven't had any problems with the bottle, so it's all good.

On the To Buy list: a lot of books to read on the beach/deck, speakers for my ipod so I can properly DJ the summer, dresses, dresses, dresses.

Peace and glitter,

i'm alive!

So I've been kind of busy lately. I'm sorry blog, I have neglected you. I started my classes 2 weeks ago and I've been busy because of that and plus I've been tired because of them too, so even when I'm not busy I'm usually sleeping.

Luckily, Bloomingdales had a HUGE insider sale this past weekend, so I have some fun 'look at what I bought' updates:

Ella Moss 'Grace' Color Block Dress Ella Moss 'Grace' Color Block Dress
(picture from Nordstrom.com, cause the Bloom website kinda sucks)

It's really adorable, no? It will be great for the shore. My bra straps will be on display (unless I can find some sort of racerback style, oh that's a good idea...) but oh, well. Oh yeah, its the Ella Moss Grace color block dress and it comes in another color too.

Lucky Brand Jeans Tiki Tie Dye Jersey Dress

It's the Tiki Tie Dye Jersey dress by Lucky. Oh man, summer just can't come soon enough.

OK so this is the Baby Brother blouse by Sanctuary Clothing. I haven't heard of these guys before and this is usually not my style. I'm more of a flowy kinda gal but the print really caught my eye, it's really pretty. Another great summer piece. Yay.

And considering I brought like 22 things into the dressing room and liked almost all of them, I though I did a pretty great job at narrowing it down.

And just a little fashion lesson taught to my by Emily and Courtney:

Aqua Women's One Shoulder Shirred Dress
One shoulder dresses with a normal bottom = looks chic and fashionable (and affordable, too)

ABS by Allen Schwartz V Neck Jersey Bubble Dress
Normal sleeved dress with a bubble bottom = looks like you're wearing a diaper under it.

I also did some dreaded bathing suit shopping... Bloomingdales selection was pretty lame but I did see this Lucky bathing suit there:

Lava Braided Halter Top Lava Braided Hipster Bottom
(pictures from LuckyBrandJeans.com)

Not in my size, obv, but I did come home and order it from LuckyBrandJeans.com, so I'm pretty excited about that.

Oh man, I also forgot to brag about this crazy awesome fantastic DKNY wedges I got at Loehmann's a few weeks ago:

They are called the Bailey. Shown here in brown, but I got them in Natural which I like better then the brown.

Shoe Ratings:
Stability: 9 out of 10
Comfort: 5 out of 10
Fashionability: 10,245,325 out of 10
Price: 10 out of 10 (go Loehman's)

Alright, I have some fashion homework to do.

Peace and strappy wedges,

playing in chicago

I just got back from Chicago from a fantastic reunion with my Lehigh ladies. There was a lot of reminiscing, dancing, and drinking. All in all it was a fantastically awesome amazing time. I gave all of them the beer tab necklaces I made and they were a HUGE success. (I'll have to try to get some pics of my version up here. I'm awful with cameras.) As far as jewelry design goes, I'm pretty much a minor celebrity in the suburbs of Chicago. Most of my friends wore them the entire weekend and we got a lot of compliments (obv cause we're totally hot, but I'd like to think the necklaces helped). As for general Chicago style, it mainly includes hats, coats, scarfs, and big huge jackets. Oh and beards. Most fashion trends were functional because of the FREEZING cold weather, I guess. Functionality isn't really my thing. (Although I did buy the coolest hat from Free People right before we left which was adorable and bohemian and floppy and knit and perfect. Bonus, it actually kept my head warm.) Apparently my friends share the same belief because most of them spent the entire weekend in heels even though there was a dangerous amount of ice on the ground. Amazingly there were ZERO falls (well there weren't any I can remember at least...)

Back to fashion... We stopped at the Loehmann's of Chicago Sunday afternoon on our way to the art museum. They had a fanta
stic selection of bags. We did not have nearly enough time for me to venture anywhere else in the store so I just stuck with the bags. They had the L.A.M.B. 'signature Carslisle convertible clutch tote' that I so desired but unfortunately it was still like $345 (and in the wrong color). Seriously, Gwen Stefini? Seriously.

Anyway I came across the Michael Kor's wicker clutch that I had seen before in Bloomingdales. I'll admit that the Kate Spade version is cuter but I'll settle for less expensive Kors version any day.

Good news, it was seriously discounted and it's not even close to spring/summer yet. I'm not even sure why Lohemann's had it. Bad news, I spend my summer at the Jersey shore and I'm probably going to look like a jackass carrying this straw bag around. Tragedy. I'll just pretend I'm at some fancy European resort.

Peace and beards,
