ruthie from the real world? is that you?

Maybe the shoe designer for Ruthie Davis shoes is Ruthie from the Real World Hawaii. Remember? Sure you do! She was always wasted and falling into things, breaking glasses and jumping into pools naked, making out with guys... and girls (or wait, did she ever make out with guys?). Ring a bell? Ok here is her picture:

from mtv.com
Well, I sure hope it's her because that's the only explanation I could come up with for the appearance of this shoe:

Mod Techno Two Band Platform, DAVIS by Ruthie Davis.
Originally 425, on sale for $297.50 (what a steal)
Picture from shopbop.com

Good to see that she has gotten her life back on track as a shoe designer. Hey, an ugly shoe designer is still a better occupation then a drunk.

(And I know I already mentioned this shoe in a 'what not to buy' post but I figured since it's on sale it's fair game again. And sadly, the more I look at the shoe the more I start to think, hey maybe it's not as ugly as I thought. Must. Shut. Computer.)

Peace and recovery,

battle of the redheads

Shopbop has a new adorable (smiling) redhead model:
(Side note, how adorable is that cardigan? It's See by Chloe. It's $365 but if you think about paying a dollar a day for a year, it doesn't seem that outrageous, right? I could come up with a dollar a day...)

(Another adorable piece - Leather Jacket from McQ by Alexander McQueen. Grey?! What a neat color for leather. Love it)

And, bonus, she doesn't look like she hates life. Like, you know, the other one....

Watch out, smiley. She's trying to harm you with her eyes. What a badass.
Except....

Is that an attempt at a smile I see? Maybe she does have emotions after all....

(I would probably be sad/have the eyes of a serial killer too if they put other models in adorable over sized cardigans and leather jackets while I was in zip up hoodies and underwear...)

In a related unrelated note, I bought red (well, light auburn) hair dye last night so that will be tonight's project. I love changing my hair color however subtle it is.

Peace and battling redheads,

summer style

I got many a compliment this weekend on my extensive summer attire, but I still feel as if it's a bit incomplete. Here is what I need:

Life would be easier if shopbop accepted handmade paint pictures as currency.

Marc by MJ Cut Paper Posy Dress

An easy transition from day to evening (aka No Shower Happy Hour)

A Peace Treaty Shehri Handkerchief Scarf

For those chillier days on the beach...when you want to be covered up by something that costs $121.

Diane von Furstenberg Dani Dress

omg How adorable would this lovely thing look with the shoes! It's like they were made for each other...

lisli Swarovski Drape Dress

Can you be casual and elegant at the same time? lisli says yes! Maybe with the lobster necklace? Yeah? Maybe?

Elizabeth and James Petunia Dress

Oh MK why do you tease me with your adorable $325 dresses??

True Religion Bobby Jean

I don't even know why I want these jeans considering I wear dresses at every available moment. But they are cute. Plus I'm over light summery denim.

Virginia Johnson Giant Tote

Adorable little sailboats everywhere. It's also in yellow! Love it.

Tibi Oaxocan Embroidery 3/4 Sleeve Dress

Long name for such a short dress. More of a beach cover up, I think. Another easy day to night transition piece.

Mike & Chris Keller Leather Jacket

Maybe not shore attire, but this would look pretty freaking cool over practically any of the dresses. Namely the Elizabeth and James one... With boots. If only I had approx $1500 to spend on ONE OUTFIT...

Gara Danielle Hammered Cuff

Love the turquoise look of this metal cuff. They have it in silver and black (oh, gunmetal, sorry) but this is definitely the prettiest of the bunch. Plus it's not totally outrageous at $74.

L.A.M.B. Shoes Gala Woven Crisscross Sandal

I know, I know, how many times have I mentioned this shoe? Well, maybe only once. But I've thought about it like a million. I think I remember seeing a fairly identical cheap knockoff somewhere but I can't recall where. Who knew summer and metallic mixed so well? Like Jager and redbull...

Foley + Corinna Handbags Side Saddle Pouch

I've been on the lookout for a purse with a long strap like this one. Bonus, the strap is completely adjustable so it can be shortened to a.. shorter shoulder bag or ...one you hold with you hand. Wow, that was a seriously awful description. I apologize. Sadly I can't even think of a better way to describe what I was trying to say.

Kenneth Jay Lane Snake Pendant Necklace

This is the closest necklace I've found to my adorable giant gold lobster necklace. This one is not quite so gaudy and old lady-ish, so it's really not as appealing...

Charlotte Ronson Shoes Zoe Platform Wedge Sandal

I've been seeing this shoe all over the place. Should I take that as a sign and just get them? I don't want to make the DKNY's mad though....

Kerri Wilder Peace Ring

Ug, I hate peace signs. I'm really more of a violent, vengeful kinda gal. Hippies are dirty losers.

Mayle Mariachi Sun Bag

Yeah, so I was kidding about that whole hippie thing, if you couldn't tell.

Kerri Wilder Buddah Cuff

I miss yoga. OK, I guess I don't miss it that much or I would do it more. I miss saying that I do yoga and having the only thing in my trunk be my yoga mat.

Alica + Olivia Crochet Ombre Dress

Crochet AND Ombre!!?? Can't get any better then that.

(All pics from shopbop.com)

Peace and fake shopping sprees,

everyone loves a sale

Plus, it gives me something pretty to look at on my lunch break...

I only checked out the 30% off stuff (so far) but there were a few winners:

Here is the Seven Jean Roxanne Crop. They're black, if you couldn't tell. I'm not sure what drew me to them... I'm not usually a black cropped pant kinda gal. But I can see how they would become useful in the summer if I ever got tired of wearing dresses (however unlikely that is).

They are down from $170 to $120.40. But then of course I would need black summer wedges, which I really don't have time or money for... Not to mention shirts to wear with them, seeing as how my closet consists mainly of dresses. It's like giving a mouse a cookie.

(ps - Don't her shoes looks extremely painful? Her poor toes look so squished...)

And here we have the Airliner Jacquard Magazine Clutch from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

I saw this clutch awhile ago and I really like it. I don't really like blatant advertising on my purses but you can't really tell it says Marc Jacobs all over it until you get up pretty close...So I would just have to keep my distance from, well, everyone in order to maintain my mysterious-I-don't-care-for-name-brands exterior.

But it's so pretty and sophisticated. I am seriously considering jumping on the giant clutch bandwagon (anything that's good enough for MK is good enough for me).

A lot of cute shoes, and since I don't feel like importing any more pictures (it's semi challenging and annoying to get them to look how you want), I'll just link to them. In a neat little list.

1. Paul & Joe Libra Multi Wedge Sandal (7 of 10)

2. Marc by MJ Banded Multicolor Sandal (9 of 10)
And yes these are the same ones I've mentioned about a million times, I should probably just shut up and buy them

3. Tashkent by Cheyenne Sanchez Metallic Linen Sandal (10 of 10)
Perfection in shoe form

Finally, the most reasonable/likely purchase of the bunch. This adorable little white dress is the Caitlin Short Sleeve Dress by Velvet. Originally $108, now on sale for $75.60. It's a cute shape and I loooove the back. I would be kinda nervous about the length. It says it's 33" long, whatever that means. It looks quite short on that model but of course she probably has a good 5" on me (hey, if it was too short maybe I could wear it with those black Seven crop pants... no, no, no, I'm just going through sale disillusionment..) Plus, it has pockets!

Courtney, when you buy this, you should totally tell everyone it's real vintage and you found it for like 35 cents at some Salvation Army.

There is a lot of wintery stuff, a ton of grey, wool, long sleeves, silk... Stuff that would have been perfection about 3 months ago, but I guess that's why it's a sale...

Peace and black cropped pants (should I get them?),

fashionable duffel bags

It's getting down to shore house crunch time and I am in desperate need of a GIANT weekender/duffel bag to take with me every weekend. I am sick of carrying 2 smallish tote bags plus a giant purse on every weekend adventure I embark on. You would be surprised at how challenging it is to find cute duffel bags that are large enough to hold everything I need and that aren't LeSportSac. I don't *really* have anything against LeSportSac, it's quite the opposite really. I found this amazing tattoo inspired print (anyone know what I'm talking about?) at Bloomingdales on some of their smaller bag varieties. I believe it was called Ink. But Bloomingdales doesn't carry the extra large weekender (or any weekender version) so I searched and searched online to no avail. The LeSportSac website didn't offer the print and I couldn't find it anywhere. It was like the mystery print. So ever since then I haven't been able to find a print I liked as much. Some of them on the website are alright, but they're not the Ink. Sigh. But it seems as if LeSportSac has the monopoly on cute duffel bags because I haven't been able to find many other versions.
Most of the bags under Shopbop's weekender category just look like tote bags to me. I don't know what kind of people can fit a weekend's worth of stuff into a tote bag, but they are definitely not the same kind of people who religiously visit Shopbop. Anyway, here is my favorite of the weekend bag category:
(picture from shopbop.com)

It's the Distinguished Dot Duffel from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It measures 10" x 18" x 7". Seems too small. But it is marked down to $156.60 from $228....

Sadly, that's the only bag I've found that I've really liked and it's too small. Anyone know where to find a extremely large extremely fashionable duffel bag? Bonus if it's not LeSportSac. Double extra mega bonus if it's IS LeSportSac but it's the Ink....

PS - Remember those weird looking green platform sandals I told you to not buy the other day? Well they're on the front page of shopbop today scaring customers away from their spring/summer shoe purchases.

Peace and fun filled weekends,

TheFashionHead

random thoughts

Don't you love it when you walk out of a building (in, say, a purple shirt with a grey waistband and a grey 3/4 sleeved cardigan) and you actually get warmer! It's warmer OUTSIDE then it is inside. It's really a lovely feeling.

Dear boy at the gym who works out in tight under armor,

You're not training for an ironman. Please wear looser clothing.

Thanks,

People who tell you that tanning does not clear your skin are just pale liars who want you to have acne forever.

-----------------------------------------------

Dear man on the motorcycle in front of me on my way home from the gym,

You were going 30 miles per hour in a 40 zone AND slowing down around the turns. What kind of nerdy motorcycle man are you? Don't people buy motorcycles to go fast (or, at least the speed limit?) I was more amused by how slow you were going then mad about it though, so don't worry.

Take care of yourself,

-----------------------------------------------

Shopbop is having a sale until midnight tonight and I have yet to find anything to buy. Tragic. I went back to look for that Elizabeth and James sweater I mentioned earlier but it was sold out. YOU'RE WELCOME shopbop. Imagine the leftover inventory you would have if I had never mentioned it in my world famous blog?

I am resisting the temptation of the 'gladiator' sandal basically because MKO wore them last summer and she's probably moved onto something new and fabulous by now, so I'll just wait around until someone takes a picture of her feet. And I'll buy whatever is on them.

OK so shopbop has a 'jumpsuits' category, right in between 'jumpers' and 'leggins'. I'm not sure how I feel about that, I'm pretty sure that I do not support jumpsuits.

-----------------------------------------------

So just in case the Lucky suit does not work out, I got one from Victoria's Secret too. I FINALLY found a bra top bathing suit so I am excited to get it and see how it looks. I got this top:

(picture from victoriassecret.com)

and plain brown bottoms.

-----------------------------------------------

Did jean skirts go out of style and no one told me? I've been looking for a good jean skirt for the summer and so far this is all I've found:

(picture from shopbop.com)

It's the sunset miniskirt by Seven. Although it is adorable and I do love the bright fun pockets, it's pretty impractical as a go to summer jean skirt. Plus I'm not a huge fan of the frayed edges.

-----------------------------------------------

And finally, 37 days until the shore house. Woooooooo.

Peace and random thoughts,
