I got a new phone last night!

A little about my cell phone history: My first phone was that really thick navy blue Nokia phone back in high school. You know, the one that had Snake and didn't flip closed. Sophomore year of college, I convinced my parents that I was the ONLY person at Lehigh with a phone that old (and that really wasn't a lie). So we got new phones for Christmas that year, new FLIP phones. I felt so fancy even though they were basic Cingular phones, no screen or anything. I had this phone until Senior year when the screen started to act all crazy. My friend Maggie had an extra phone and generously gave it to me. It was basically the same phone but with a screen, which I thought was super neat. One afternoon senior year I was walking to class in the rain and texting, and I guess my phone got too wet and the pound button stopped working. The pound button, big deal, right? Well, the pound button is the space bar for text messages. For the past year and a half all of my text messages have.looked.like.this. Some people thought I was strange, others thought I was trying to start a no space trend... And I wasn't able to download any ringtones so my phone had the lame generic ring, so UNCOOL. So you can imagine my excitement for my brand new phone.

I got the LG shine! It's the phone on the commercial with LC! It's shiny and has a mirror so when I am not talking about myself I can be staring at myself!! It's really the perfect phone for me.

The things I have to get used to: the keys are pretty tiny so sending text messages is a little more challenging, and I have tiny fingers! I'm not sure how people with big hands would be able to text or even dial well... I got my old ringtone back (China Grove by Doobie Brothers, obv) but it doesn't have very good text message tones and I'm not sure if you can download new ones (anyone know?).

Things that I love already: I can send mass text messages, I can have spaces between my words in text messages, I can put my phone on silent by holding down pound (it was such a bother without that freaking pound key), plus it's just pretty looking.

Tonight I am hitting up Bloomingdales and DSW and possibly FP and Urban on my way home from work to get some good dresses for this loooong weekend down the shore. Shockingly, I have already worn all my dresses so I need some new ones to throw into the mix. The Bloom website sucks so much I don't usually do any pre-shopping on it. The Urban one, on the other hand, it quite lovely and has a lot of dresses on it. I would gladly take any of these:

hippie chic

And I am back from my little beach vacation. It was lovely, relaxing and non-relaxing, and I got to see not only my friends but also my family, whom I love love love. We got down Thursday morning and everyone took a nap. We basically just laid around all day, ate, watched tv, read books. We didn't even make it to the beach! Friday I was determined to work on my tan level so I spent most of the day on the beach or laying out in my uncles back yard. Friday night was crazy as usual. I wore my new French Connection purple halter dress. It was so fun and girly and pretty. I was just twirling around in it all night. Saturday was spent on my uncle's boat and playing games with my little cousins. Oh, and eating and watching tv and laying around. We tried to make it out to happy hour but ended up drinking too much at the house and just stayed in and grilled. Saturday night pretty awesome. I wore my lovely Free People dress with the lacy bandeau top underneath. The general consensus was good so I ripped off the tags. I thought this would be a great opportunity to show off my leather braided hippie headband so I put it on. The girls thought I looked a little too hippie but I didn't care, I wore it out anyway. It was adorable, in my opinion. Unfortunately I got too attached to the look and I refused to take off the headband and put my hair up at the bar which lead to a lot of unnecessary sweating and also an early departure. Oh the things I do for fashion.

I ended up staying down last night. I went to happy hour and dinner with the family. I was so tired I fell asleep around 9, which was good because I had to wake up at 5 to drive home for work. It was worth it though, cause happy hour was fun and dinner was delicious and I'm not really that tired (yet) and I got into work so early that I can leave at 3. Score. Untz.

As usual, I took zero picture. But my uncle took a ton, my sister took a few and I'm sure the people in my house took some so maybe I'll have something to show. Probably not. I really have to stop talking about pictures here.

More good news - Friday is 4th of July! A day off work! Another short week! I need to get some new adorable dresses for the upcoming weekend so I'm planning on hitting up Bloomingdales later in the week to use those lovely coupons I acquired by spending so much money at the last sale...

I had forgotten I had created this set awhile ago:

It was in response to a 'What to Wear to Graduation' post. I had just gotten the Lux dress from Urban and I was excited to create an outfit around it. I have yet to wear it but I am planning to try it out tomorrow at my sister's graduation. I usually don't like to go so matchy-matchy on the accessories but the dress is pretty bold and has such a definite color scheme that I figured the accessories would look better if they fell in line. I will unfortunately, sadly, TRAGICALLY not be wearing the Louboutin wedges tomorrow (because I don't own them, not because something really unfortunate or tragic happened...). However, I will debut my new DKNY Emma wedges in white, so that's pretty exciting. As for real life accessories, I'm going to go with my white F21 sunglasses, my white rose F21 post earrings, annnd... that might be it. I think I'll let the dress do the talking, if you catch my drift. And I'll leave you with that magical cliche ridden sentence.

the amazing dress

Yesterday while I was getting ready to leave work, I was browsing the American Apparel site. I came across this dress:

It's the cotton spandex jersey bandeau dress. They say it can be worn either strapless or as a halter. But it doesn't stop there! There is this little video thingy that says it will show you 15 ways to wear this dress. So I'm thinking, 15? They're probably all basically same way but with just a few small changes. I got sucked into this video thing. I watched all 15 videos, probably each about a minute long, of this girl who just keeps putting the dress on in different ways. It was pretty crazy, I was amazed. I even stayed at work a little later the usual to finish up the video. The way that is shown at the top is actually one of my least favorites. A better look is when you twist the straps in the front (instead of just crossing them) and then tie it as a halter (shown in the yellow and black versions below). You can also knot it in the front, then tie it as a halter. There were a few strapless versions that seemed neat but I think I would prefer to have some sort of strap. There were about 3 versions where the girl just tucked the straps into the top to make it look like a dress with regular straps or a jumper which looked great but seemed really impractical because the straps were not attached to anything. You can twist the dress to the side and tie the straps over one shoulder to get a cool asymmetrical look. There are 2 versions of the dress as a skirt. They are basically the same thing, one is a high waist and one is a regular skirt, both use the halter straps as a belt. The 14th look is absolutely insane. The girl takes off the dress completely (don't worry, she is wearing a full AA spandex bodysuit), flips it upside down, and steps into it. I'm thinking, what is this girl doing? Then she gathers the bottom of the dress around her neck and ties it at the back to form a cowl-neck halter but since the top of the dress is around her waist, its really fitted. The halter straps are used as a belt at the bottom of the 'shirt'. I can't believe I just wasted 15 more minutes of my life watching this video again. I'm going to need this dress. Now, the question is: What color?

The dress is $36 but there are 15 ways to wear it!!! $2.40 per look. It's like they're giving it away.

clothing inventory

So I was taking a casual clothing inventory last night in preparation for the shore (oh, you didn't know? I'm going to the shore this weekend.) In case you have never taken a clothing inventory before, it's a little less time consuming then a full on fashion show (plus the big bonus, for me at least, is that you can do it when you get home from the gym and haven't showered yet without smelling up all of your pretty clothes), but with basically the same results. I take out all of my pretty dresses and line them up on my futon, like they are my fashionable friends hanging out.. on my futon. Anyway. I bring out all of my shoes and accessories to determine what I have, what goes with what, and what I need. I am pretty set in the shoe department (oh, you didn't know that I fell in love with a pair of shoes?) and I have been buying necklaces like a crazy person (oh, you didn't know? I'm a crazy necklace buying person). I was just bragging to one of my loyal admirers about how many dresses I have, how I am like the queen of adorable dresses, how I'll probably never have to buy another adorable dress again because of how many adorable dresses I already have, etc. So you can imagine how shocked I was to find that I only really had 2 acceptable dresses for shore time shenanigans. Both from Urban, both by Lux. Having 2 dresses for 2 nights would be fine for, I don't know, unfashionable people who are dumb. But I know that I will need as least 3 options for each night, which amounts to approx 18 different outfits. If you think that I may have made a math error, you are probably using regular numbers math and not girl math, and certainly not fashion math. OK I should probably round this up before I start to sound... crazy. Basically, the end result is the inventory necessitated a trip to KOP today after work before I head to the gym.

i'm alive!

So I've been kind of busy lately. I'm sorry blog, I have neglected you. I started my classes 2 weeks ago and I've been busy because of that and plus I've been tired because of them too, so even when I'm not busy I'm usually sleeping.

Luckily, Bloomingdales had a HUGE insider sale this past weekend, so I have some fun 'look at what I bought' updates:

It's really adorable, no? It will be great for the shore. My bra straps will be on display (unless I can find some sort of racerback style, oh that's a good idea...) but oh, well. Oh yeah, its the Ella Moss Grace color block dress and it comes in another color too.

OK so this is the Baby Brother blouse by Sanctuary Clothing. I haven't heard of these guys before and this is usually not my style. I'm more of a flowy kinda gal but the print really caught my eye, it's really pretty. Another great summer piece. Yay.

And considering I brought like 22 things into the dressing room and liked almost all of them, I though I did a pretty great job at narrowing it down.

And just a little fashion lesson taught to my by Emily and Courtney:

One shoulder dresses with a normal bottom = looks chic and fashionable (and affordable, too)

Normal sleeved dress with a bubble bottom = looks like you're wearing a diaper under it.

I also did some dreaded bathing suit shopping... Bloomingdales selection was pretty lame but I did see this Lucky bathing suit there:
