headbands!

Last night I took my sister to the mall. I didn't really need anything and I probably shouldn't have bought anything but oh well. We went to Urban. Most times I walk around that store and look at the semi-strange items and don't see anything worth trying on. Unfortunately for my bank account (which is now $600 richer, thanks to le government, score) I found a ton of really cute shirts and dresses last night. I checked on the website and neither of the two dresses I ended up buying are on there. They would be pretty hard to describe so, well I just won't. Maybe there will be pictures soon. They're both by Lux, undoubtedly my favorite dress brand. I also picked up three long necklaces, two gold and one silver with leaves and birds on them. I am really trying to get my jewelry collection up to speed before the summer. Then we hit up Old Navy and I picked up this really cute yellow and green head scarf. There's no picture of that on the site either. Grr.. What is a post without pretty pictures? Not actually owning a camera severely limits my picture posting ability.


Then I dragged my sister into Michael's real quick so I could get my hippie headband materials. I found this awesome leather cord combo pack, with 9 foot cords of brown, tan, and black leather. That was pretty much all I needed... I made the headband prototype today in between cleaning my room and downloading music. I really wanted to post a picture of it but like I said before, no camera. Then I remembered my webcam..

Here it is! This is my best attempt to do the 'casual look away from the camera' that fashiontoast does so well. I am really pleased with it, especially for the first try. I just braided all 3 of the colors together.

I got pretty fancy here and I braided a hair elastic into the headband so it would sit tight on my head. I left room at the ends to tie it in the back and cover up the elastic. I wasn't sure how much cord I would need but not that I know, I'll be able to make more easily. I am definitely going to incorporate beads into my next one. I may have to change my material because I noticed that the leather had stained my hands while I was braiding it and a stained forehead is probably an unattractive look... DIY mission: pretty successful.

They had so many adorable options. I am having trouble narrowing it down... I really love the Pom Pom ones. And the Itty Bitty Turquoise ones. (ok so I love anything tie dye and anything turquoise..) And the birdy ones. Oh, and the flower fabric ones. And the white rose ones are so delicate looking... Those LP ones are really neat looking, definitely a conversation starter... And the little tree and sunset ones... Like I said, narrowing it down is going to be a problem.

While browsing the website, looking for the perfect hippie headband, I really caught the do-it-yourself vibe and decided that I'm going to make my own headband. Hello, weekend project. My plan is to get some leather-ish strands from AC Moore, maybe some hemp as well, and either make 2 separate braided headbands or braid the leather and hemp together. I still have a lot of leftover white and turquoise beads from my necklace making so I'm thinking I'll try to incorporate them into the braid as well to give the headband a little weight and hopefully make it stay on my head better. Feathers? Maybe. I'll post pictures when it's all done. If my beer tab necklaces are any indication, these headbands will be a raging success.

ask and you shall recieve...

Yesterday's post got me thinking about that glorious Ink LeSportSac print. I decided to give it one more search on Google. Aaaannnd jackpot. I found a bunch of different versions of the Ink print on ebay. Most of them were from seller Handbag Headquarters. And, score, I found the large weekender in the Ink! I would have probably preferred the extra large weekender just so I could pack more crap but I wasn't about to be picky. The bag was up for auction but there was an option to just buy it and skip the whole bidding thing (I haven't used ebay in years...). I didn't really feel like taking any chances plus I also didn't want to wait for the end of the auction so I just bought it instead of bid. So then I got the confirmation 'You have purchased your item' or whatever. And then I tried to pay for it. Tried being the key word here. I had forgotten both my ebay and paypal user names and passwords. So once I retrieved both of them, I tried to pay for the bag on ebay. I kept getting this message about needing to confirm my address or something. I would click the link and my address would show up, but there weren't any other options. So I did that a few times... Then I found an option to pay through the paypal sight. So I tried that, entered in my credit card info and my address, and then I kept getting the message that the credit card info I had entered was already saved under my account, and I'm like YEAH, cause that's my credit card. But it wouldn't let me continue. I think I tried other things too, like adding a credit card to my paypal account, then deleting it, then adding it again. I was going in circles and it was really annoying plus at this point I was late for the gym. I wrote a little note to the seller, something like 'Please don't sell my bag, I am really trying hard to pay for it. Really. I promise.' So after the gym, I went back to try again. I ended up having to enter 2 different credit cards into the paypal website and it finally went through. The bag was $98.99 which is how much the large weekenders usually cost anyway, plus the sales tax and shipping. After I figured out the dumb payment procedure I was able to celebrate the Ink bag!



Here are the pictures from the seller's sight. I had forgotten what the pattern actually looked like, I just remember that I really liked it. I'm a big fan of tattoo inspired prints and skulls especially. I'm really excited to get it. And it comes with a little makeup bag! Bonus! Although I'm a little nervous because I just got my Victoria's Secret bathing suit, and I am currently expecting the Lucky suit (seriously, Lucky?), the Jovovich Hawk dress, and now this and my parents get nervous when I start to get package in the mail everyday...

More good news: you can now buy shoes from DSW.com. Good move, DSW. They don't have all the brands online (Michael Kors was the first I noticed, and they only have men's shoes under Steve Madden) that are in the store but they have a pretty good selection.

Next mission: cute post earrings that I can wear day to day. I think I may have to make my first etsy purchase because they had a ton of really adorable posts earrings (pictures .. later .. tonight, maybe ... or tomorrow). Also I am looking for headbands that look like this:

I haven't looked but I'm sure etsy will have something like that. It's going to be a bohemian inspired summer.
