I know I haven't been around much. This past weekend was Labor day and our last weekend down the shore (sad face). It was an amazing awesome super fun relitavly drama and fight free last weekend. I took off work last Friday and headed down Thursday night. On Friday afternoon, the weather was kind of crappy so me and my friend checked out the Atlantic City outlets. They were all kinda blah except for the BCBG. AHH MAZING. The whole first room was filled with pretty dresses at highly discounted prices. The other room was all lovely separates and more business-y outfits. I got a strapless flowy dress, a polka dot tank top (which now I regret because it looks really weird on..), a brown silk shirt (I have it in teal from last year at full price and I wore it constantly last winter, so I had to get it in another color) and this really pretty navy blue short sleeved dress for going out in the winter.

The rest of the weekend was filled with eating homemade healthy Mexican food, dancing like idiots, taking boat rides, laying on the beach and drinking all sorts of delicious and not so delicious drinks (note: a Twisted Tea with a shot of flavored vodka may taste amazing, but don't drink more then 2 (or 1 to be safe)). We spent all day Monday cleaning the house, which ended up looking pretty great. Hopefully we'll get some of that security deposit back... so we can put it towards a pretty house on the bay next summer.

I was completly ready for summer to be over, mainly because I am excited to get back into a normal exercising schedule and honestly, drinking both weeknd nights is kind of exhausting, not to mention I always felt sick and unhealthy. Wow that was a long sentence. Don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful summer and I'm already signed up for next year, but I think it came to an end at a good time for me. Anyways, while I am ready for fall I will definitely miss the shore house and the people in it and going out and dancing a lot. But it will be nice to not have to live out of my car and to maybe get to the gym a few more nights a week that I have been.

This week I've just been busy with work and catching up on my sleeping. My car is a mess, it is filled with all my summer clothes plus all the other random stuff I had down the shore. My room is also a mess from the lovely Wardrobe challenge (still going on by the way, what are we on? Day 4? Updates to come). I need to get my life in order, so the postings will probably be minimal, unless I find some great stuff to share.

Oh yeah and I'm running a half marathon in ooohhhh 2 week and a half weeks. Crap.

I didn't post yesterday but that's because I had a great day at work and wrote code all day. And most of it even works. Which is pretty neat. Then right after work, I met my mom and we drove down to the Philadelphia Art Museum to do the loop. I ran about 6 miles of the 9ish mile loop, walked the rest. I came home, ate dinner, and literally passed out. Surprisingly, my legs do not hurt as much as I thought they would. But my left hip is in some serious pain, causing me to walk like I have a limp.

I haven't decided if I'm going to take a vacation day tomorrow... I was contemplating saving up my vacation days and staying in Europe the week after Luxembourg, but I don't have anyone to travel with and I'm pretty afraid to do it alone. But I really don't want to pass up a free plane ride to Europe and back (and in first class too, swanky). So I don't know if I should still try to save up my vacation days. AH I hate making decisions...

Anyway, onto more positive thinking: Things I Love Thursday.

And updates on the Wardrobe Taming... I have been trying to wear things from the pile but it's kind of hard considering I can only wear jeans and tshirts or casual shirts to work everyday. Plus I never do anything fun during the week at night to get dressed for. I got rid of all my basic tanks (that I've had since high school) and went to Old Navy to pick up replacements. I've just been going through the pile every night and putting stuff I know I definitely do not want or that does not/will never fit into a trash bag to donate. I'm just trying to work the pile down since it's so huge and taking over my room (oh, when I did my drawers, the entire bottom two drawers ended up in the pile, ops).

So I suppose I can move onto Day Three. While you continue to try to wear items in the pile everyday, now you try to assess whether or not they are worth keeping. Do they make you feel lovely? Or uncomfortable? Could you wear them in different combinations? If any of your 'pile outfits' are outfits you would never ever wear again, and you can't imagine wearing them any other way, then get rid of them. Also, you're supposed to start to think about what items you need that would help you wear the item you already own (like you need a plain grey tank to wear under a certain blouse you have, or long black pants to wear with that patterned sweater you own). Make a list of these items and go out and BUY them! (Sounds fun).

So I guess tonight, if I'm not at the shore, I'll be making a list of items I need to make my current wardrobe more more fantastic, fabulous, versatile, and wearable.

Tom Binns Winged Skull Necklace, currently on major sale at net-a-porter.

I've always wanted one of his necklaces. I really liked the flying f-word (I said f-word because my mom reads this. Hi mom!) ones, but this one might be more wearable say around my grand mom or small children. I like how it's gold and silver, and the chain is really long.

Thoughts? I have until Sunday to decide...

wardrobe day 2

Wardrobe Taming Day 2 can be found here. In this phase you have to really look at your discarded pile of clothes. Aside from the pile that needs to be altered or repaired, try to figure out why you're not wearing the items in the pile. Gala suggests trying to wear one item from the pile every day for the rest of the challenge. If you come to find that you really don't like it, or it doesn't fit right, get rid of it. But you have to at least try to incorporate some of these items of clothing back into your wardrobe. You did buy whatever is in that pile, after all.

I'm still kinda in Day 1 since I haven't tackled my drawers yet. I was going to start Day 2 by wearing something from the pile to work, but I woke up 30 minutes later then usual so there was no time for picking out an outfit. Maybe tomorrow.

I ended up keeping the Max Studio (cause its the most perfect fall/winter/anytime I feel like it dress EVER) and the Free People (cause it's just so cool looking). Everything else is up for debate in the pile. I love, love, love the BCBG one but I have yet to wear it.

wardrobe taming a la gala

Well, today is just beautiful. The weather is lovely. It's such a shame that I don't have any windows in my office. Actually, the bigger shame is that I'm actually in my office at 3:30 on a Friday. My family is already down the shore, but I didn't take today off because I only have 4 vacation days left for the whole year... I know, I know feel sorry for me, right?

It seems as if the inspiration for quite a few of my recent posts has come from Miss Gala. Read her blog, if you're not doing so already. Anyway, I was reading through her archives awhile ago and I came across the 8 day 'Wardrobe Taming' series. At first when I read it, I thought it seemed like a lot of work to put into organizing your clothes. But with fall coming up, it seems like the perfect time to thoroughly go through my wardrobe. By figuring out what I already have, what I need and don't need, I think I will be more efficient in my fall shopping sprees.

Read her day one entry here. She instructs you to divide your entire wardrobe into two piles: 'Things I Wear' and 'Things I Don't Wear'. That should be pretty simple. I know I'm going to have a ton of stuff in the 'Things I Don't Wear' pile. I mean, I have a ton of clothes, but I feel like I usually wear the same things over and over. You're allowed to put the 'Things You Wear' back into your closet. Then you have to try to figure out why you don't wear the things in the other pile. Gala suggests making more piles, like 'Things that need to be hemmed/taken in/let out', 'Things I have no idea what to wear them with', or 'Things I don't have the confidence to wear'.

That's it for Day One. I'm hitting up the shore tonight (after some laundry and maybe a run) so I won't get to Day One until probably Sunday night, but I'll try to take pics along the way. I'm excited for a nice organized simplified wardrobe, with plenty of room for new fall clothes. (Oh, and I guess I might have to do this with shoes too. I wear approx 4% of my shoe collection....) So if your wardrobe needs an overhaul, do the 8 day challenge with me and let me know how it goes!

As I mentioned, last night I bought 2 pairs of boots from Victoria's Secret. I can't wait for fall and I haven't been able to stop thinking about boots, and leather jackets, and black clothes, and sweaters. Anyways here are the boots I picked.

These are the Cuff Motorcycle Bootie by Colin Stuart. I got them in brown because I plan on wearing them with more casual day time outfits and I already have black (and green) motorcycle-esque boots.

These are the Wedge Bootie by Colin Stuart, again. I LOVE the way they look in maple and blonde (white), but I opted for the black for practicality. I have absolutely no idea what makes me think I'll be able to walk in these 4 and 1/4 inch heels, but aren't they fierce?

But! I found out I'm going to Luxembourg for a week for work!!! It's not until November, but I have already started to mentally pack and make a list of adorable fall business casual/just plain casual/fancy clothes I need. And, I feel like a fashion blogger zombie because after I saw those studded booties on Karla and Rumi, I had to check out the shoe selection at Victoria's Secret (who knew?). I was tempted to just order the same ones, but I found other ones that were more my style. I ordered 2 pairs of boots. I just took Nyquil so I obviously can't do anything crazy like post their pictures now, but maybe tomorrow.

I think all these crazy shore weekends are starting to catch up with me. I woke up Saturday feeling pretty crappy. Stuffy nose, sore throat. I stayed down the shore Sunday night with the family to go to happy hour. Yesterday I was sneezing and coughing all day. So today, I took a sick day. I'm at home eating food and watching awesome tv shows like Full House. This whole 'having a job' thing is highly overrated.

But anyways, the point is no fun fashionable updates today because it's hard to type when you're laying on the couch and it's hard to think of things to write when you're taking cold meds. Although I am getting pretty inspired by the Full House sisters outfits... Maybe it's just the cold medicine thought...

the tale of the ombre tight disaster

It all started out according to plan: Rit dye, salt, measuring cup, oven mit.

I went with the off white version.

My little cup of black dye.

Here is the 'ombre' version hanging in my garage to drip dry.

Here is the 'tie dye' version crumpled in a ball.

You may be thinking to yourself, well fashionhead, these certainly do not look ombre to me. No need to get a dictionary to check the definition people. Cause these tights were a straight up disaster.

Well maybe disaster is putting it a bit harshly. When purplish-grey tights that make your legs look really bruised come into fashion, I'll be the first one ready...

I tried to find a more picture friendly background, so I took the pictures this time in front of my closet with my mom's old vanity chair, you know to spice things up. I forgot to clean up all the crap around my feet though. But I think the spot has potential...

So I have about a million ideas of things to post about. Like really fun neat creative things. Things that may or may not invove multiple pictures of myself. But it's bedtime and tomorrow I leave for the beach right from work. And, like the irresponsible person I am, I am staying down the shore Sunday night to go to happy hour, waking up at 6AM, and driving to work Monday morning. Therefore, all of these brilliant ideas will just be swimming around in my head until Monday night... On second thought, I better just write them down somewhere...

Is it just me, or is this season of project runway kinda ...lame? I don't really love any of the contestants and I haven't seen any awesome outfits. But then again, the challenges have been kinda weird. The Olympic one tonight was bizarre. I like normal challenges where they make pretty clothes.

I dyed tights tonight! I got 2 pairs of off white tights and black dye. The first pair, I tried to do the gradient I had planned to. I don't think its going to turn out really well. I think I dipped the tights too deep into the dye, so they may end up looking all black. The directions said to let them hang for an hour or two, then take them down and rinse them out. I didn't like the way they looked after two hours so I am going to leave them hanging overnight. I'm not sure if this will effect the tights or the dye. We'll see tomorrow, I guess. On the second pair of tights I just crumpled them up and stuck them into the dye. I left them in a little crumpled ball for about two hours, then I rinsed them out. They're hanging dry. I hope they will look kind of tie dyed on.

It's getting late. I'm going to bed. I just wanted to express my hatred for that commercial with the two girls in the dorm room. They 'dance off' while decorating their gigantic dorm room. I'm not sure what annoys me about the commercial the most - I like the song, the decorations they're using are alright. Maybe it's because my freshman dorm room wasn't much bigger then my closet at home and the fact they are portraying dorm room as giant white well lit rooms is a giant lie. Stop lying commercials. Stop giving freshman false dorm room hope.

...to my Margiela shoe OBSESSION:

They are the Triumphh from the king of knock-offs, Mr. Steve Madden. Obv I love the Margiels more but the thicker strap across the toes might make them easier to walk in and therefore a bit more practical. They're only available for pre-order now and they won't be shipped until October sometime. But since they cost approx 1/5 of the real Margielas I found on yoox or eluxury or something, these lovlies are actually do-able. They also come in black suede (kinda boring) and purple suede (surprisingly cute and interesting). I would most likely stick with the taupe.

Looks like it might a Steve Madden fall....

These are the Ginn bootie. Personally, I like the black version better but I put this picture up because the bronze metallic showed off the details better. Definitely a possibility..

Ah and here we have the Midory peep toe bootie. They have it in a bunch of colors and fabrics, but I am drawn to this black patent. The black and pewter leather ones are nice too, but they are a bit too similar to my other Steve Madden peep toe booties. Plus this one would look good with the whole skinny jean, motorcycle jacket, rock star boyfriend look I'm going for.

Here is the famous SATC knock-off heel, the Maddiee. I figure if I went crazy and got it in the green snake, it would look so .. knock-off-y. These would definitely add some visual interest to any plain outfit. And I'm not usually a green snakeskin kinda girl, but I could see myself in these.

Last night I went to the craft store and bought black dye, and also a kind of bleach dye. I also bought more suede straps to make more headbands (!!) and necklace clasps so I can stop using string and scissors every time I want to put my homemade necklaces on or take them off. I also went to CVS and bought off-white tights (and deodorant and sour watermelons) to begin my DIY ombre tights experiment. Hopefully tonight!

To do: get better at freaking posing for a picture, get a new camera that doesn't make everything weird and blurry, hire a fancy new photographer. It's gonna be a long week...

So this was the night we went to see my cousin perform in Grease. She was the high school principal, so she wasn't on stage a ton but when she was, it was front and center. The play was good. I found certain parts kinda strange for a children's play like the cursing, the violent pelvic thrusting, the middle fingers, and the talking about boobs, sex, and pregnancy. I mean, I know all those things were in the original Grease but they are usually left out of the child performances...

Anyway, I had just worn the pants and jacket to dinner at the Melting Pot (still full from that meal, by the way) and when I find something in my closet I like, I tend to wear it for a few days (For example, I wore the t-shirt and blouse to work the next day with jeans and flip flops...). I would say it's because I like to rework my old clothes and wear them different ways, but it's really just laziness. I wanted to wear the blouse, and since I have an unhealthy need to layer absolutely everything, I put the t-shirt underneath. It was VERY hot outside but I knew they play would be freezing so I packed the white jacket. The necklace was a birthday present (yay presents!). It's a letter K and a star, you can actually see the K in the pictures.

I washed my car tonight for the first time... ever. I've had it for about a year. So that was pretty fun and exciting. Now I'm doing laundry. Looks like there might even be a little room cleaning on the horizon. Wild times.

PS - I spent about $150 at Ulta (it's like a Sephora, but not as big and intimidating. But it still manages to have all the same things. It's magical.) on Saturday so I'm busy putting everything to the test so expect a beauty post.. eventually.

Like I said, some of my friends and I went to Melting Pot last night for dinner. It was 'Ladies Night' so we got all four courses for only $30, which may still seem like a lot but its a pretty good compared to their normal prices. Anyways, it was so good I'm going to talk about it in detail. We got the cheddar cheese and the mexican cheese fondue. That came with chips, bread, apples (surprisingly refreshing in cheese...) and veggies. Then we all got salads. For the main course, we each got raviolis, chicken, shrimp and beef. We chose two different cooking oils. Plus it came with like 18 different sauces, and you know how much I love sauces... Teriyaki, sweet and sour, spicy shrimp cocktail.. and some much more interesting ones I can't remember now. Thennnn came dessert. We got regular milk chocolate and then a smores one, which was milk chocolate with marshmallow and graham cracker stirred in. I stuck with that one. It came with cheesecake, pound-cake, brownies, graham cracker covered marshmallows, oreo covered marshmallows, bananas, rice crispy treats, and strawberries. The amount of food is unbelievable. That place is a freak show. I ate a lot of cheese and chocolate and could have done without the main course to be honest. But it was all delicious. And a very fun atmosphere. We would probably go more if it weren't so crazily expensive. Oh well.

And more importantly, le outfit. It's my interpretation of how to wear the white blazer. The 'shirt' I'm wearing is technically a dress and I've worn it as such down the shore, but back at home (and sober) it seemed like it needed pants. Since we weren't doing much walking, I took the opportunity to wear my DKNY espadrilles that I got from Loehmann's. I actually hadn't worn them yet. The wedge makes them more comfortable but it's realllly thin, and the strap only ties around the ankle so there isn't much support there. But they're great for walking from a car to a restaurant in! Also, I've been leaving all my jewelry down the shore cause I never usually do fun things at night during the week, so that is why there is none in the picture. But then again, I think the dress kinda speaks for itself.

PS - The outfit shots were taken AFTER all that food was eaten. How brave of me, right? But how could I not share this lovely ensemble with all my adoring readers?

I have green motorcycle-esque boots from last winter. They are Blowfish from DSW and I love them so much I went back and got them in black. I wore them with jeans tucked in, with tights or leggings, or just barelegged with cute little dresses (we had a pretty mild winter, plus alcohol keeps you pretty warm, ya know?) I also have nice grey Steve Madden boots with a braid up one side. The only thing missing is pretty brown boots...Or fancy black boots. Or crazy colored fun boots... Or ugly brown boots...

Quick updates:

The nail polish on 2 of my fingers is already majorly chipped. So it lasted about 4 days. Grr.

This weekend was super fun and seemed like it lasted forever. The weather was lovely until Sunday, when it poured like CRAZY all afternoon/evening. The shore got so flooded there were people swimming and canoeing in the streets, for reals. We all stayed down an extra night and went to Sunday happy hour, which is way more crazy and crowded then you would expect a Sunday happy hour to be.

I had two, yes TWO, birthday cakes. So much birthday love. :)

I re-wore old dresses but I still managed to look adorable - I guess you don't really need a new dress every weekend...

I took a half day at work today and came in at noon. It was lovely, but it means I have to actually get some work done now....

I'm actually wearing a semi cute outfit to work today. Friday's always get me a little excited so I tend to spend a little more time in the morning getting ready (think 7 minutes instead of 4). I'm wearing jeans, black ballet flats, black tank, white button down with ruffles, that pretty red belt on top of ruffly shirt, black sweater (cause my office is unnecessarily cold). I was thinking of putting the belt over the sweater but I didn't have time, plus I wanted to be able to rip the sweater off in case of a freak office heatwave.

Last night my mom treated me to a birthday mani/pedi. I haven't had a manicure in about 4 years because I they chip so easily but I couldn't resist a free one. Hopefully it will last a little longer this time.

I got into work a little after 7 this morning, which shocked all the old engineer men in my office because I usually don't roll in until close to 9. But I wanted to be able to leave for the beach today at 3 guilt free. I am very excited about the shore this weekend. Tonight we are going to celebrate my birthday, which means it will probably be like a regular night out but with people randomly yelling 'Happy Birthday!'. And maybe there will be a birthday crown involved. Tomorrow is the high school reunion for most of the people in my shore house, which means they will all be out of the house for happy hour I'll have a nice relaxing afternoon. Our plan is to sun ourselves all morning and afternoon, while drinking the perfect amount of wine to make us giddy and then sleepy. Then we're going to take a really bitching nap until the drunk kids return from the reunion.

I am trying to think of something with pictures to post in order to keep your attention. Can't think of anything at the moment. Maybe it will be a two-post kinda day...

Yesterday was probably one of the worst birthdays I've had in recent years. And I'm not trying to sound all 'feel bad for me' but it was just a not so good day. I worked all day, which is zero fun in itself. Last year my birthday was on a Sunday, so there was no work. And the year before that, I didn't have a job... So working on your birthday is kind of depressing. Everyone should have the day off on their birthday! Then after work I went to pick my car up from inspection. I was expecting the bill to be somewhere between $100 and $200 but it turned out to be almost $500!! Something with wheels and alignment or whatever. Mechanic bastards. The only good thing was I got to see my family, we all went over my uncles for a little birthday celebration. My nana made strawberry cake cause it's my favorite. My aunts and uncles still give me 20's so that's pretty sweet. But I was pretty tired and in a semi bad mood from the car thing so I left around 9 and went to bed.

Don't get me wrong, it was not an awful day by any stretch of the imagination, but for as long as I can remember I've always had like super fun birthdays. I remember growing up we used to transform our backyard into a carnival. My dad would make all sorts of games and each of my aunts and uncles and neighbors would run them. The entire neighborhood of kids would come. We had spin art and ring toss and face painting and relay races and sand art. (If you were a six year old, you would be totally jealous right now) One year my uncle even bought a pony! Seriously! My parents were so creative. I mean I'm sure the parties still cost a bunch of money but they were way more fun then any sort of Chuck E Cheese/Leaps and Bounds deal. (Both popular children birthday party locations when I was a kid, if you are unfamiliar.) As I got older I still had pretty awesome parties, mostly sleepovers. I had a surprise 13th or 14th birthday party, and surprise parties are always pretty fun. It's so nice to think that everyone at the party had known about it and had been thinking about you and the party and you had no idea! My 19th birthday was celebrated at my mountain house with a bunch of people from college and home, and beer. I was living at Lehigh during the summer of my 20th birthday so we had a pretty big house party, which the cops so lovingly broke up. My 21st birthday was a shitshow. I took a bunch of friends down the shore for the night I turned 21, which conveniently happened on a Friday. That Saturday I had a combination family/friends rager at my house that was also pretty awesome (think of my parents and aunts teamed up with my friends for beer pong, my uncles playing flip cup). People still talk about that party. Even last year I managed to get a pretty big group together at my house to celebrate my 22nd. This year I was just not that into it. Plus, nobody likes you when you're 23. :(

So I guess my less then fantastic birthday was my own fault, but at least I have a lot of good birthday memories! Plus, maaaybe there will be some celebrations down the shore this Friday.

an aggressive savings plan

It has been over a year since I started working at my full time high paying electrical engineering job. While my closets are full and happy, my savings account is not. I have paid off my student loans and put some into my savings account, but the majority has gone to clothes, the shore house, booze and generous presents for my family and friends (I'm such a giver). My 401k is maxed out, so I have that going for me. I was going through the numbers and it is kind of ridiculous how much money I could have easily saved at this point but didn't.
I still live at home, which I really don't mind at all cause my parents are pretty awesome and its a great savings opportunity that I haven't taken full advantage of yet. However, I would like to eventually move out and ideally I would like to buy a place instead of rent one. Renting annoys me and often the rent price is pretty similar to a morgage price and after renting, you end up with nothing. So my plan is to live at home, probably until next year around this time, and save up a ton of money so I can buy myself an adorable little place. I know it's going to be hard to change my shopping mindset (from buying pretty much whatever I want to actually thinking about what I'm buying and trying to not spend as much). The fact that I have built up a pretty fantastic wardrobe over the past year will hopefully make it a little easier. I definitely have enough pretty dresses to last the rest of the summer. And this is going to be the first winter where I am actually looking forward to wearing all my winter clothes (sweater and jeans and boots and scarfs and LAYERS yay!) from last year. I hope it won't be as hard as I think it's going to be. I don't want to be on a 'budget' really, like I don't want to allocate a certain amount of money each month for certain things, but I am just going to focus on putting more cash into my savings. I'm working on changing my direct deposit to put a certain amount of each paycheck directly into my savings. Out of site, out of mind. Can't buy whatever you want when all of your cash is in your savings account rather then your checking, right?

So what this means really is I'll probably have less 'look what I bought' posts and more creative reworking of old clothes, thrift store visits and DIY posts. Oh, and maybe even more furniture and home accessories posts.

The first pictures are just what I wore to work today, minus the work boots. I was just bored in my kitchen and I love tie dye so much I decided to play around with the camera.

The random belt I picked up went surprisingly well with the dress, although it did make it SIGNIFICANTLY shorter. And boy do I love these shoes. Hotness. Of course down the shore I wore it with flip flops so I wouldn't have to worry about silly things like walking or standing upright.

Just watched Project Runway. It's kinda strange that I actually called it that Jerry would be the first one out. It was based on nothing other then his picture haha. Maybe I'm psychic... And I also predicted that I would like Kelli, which I do. Her dress was AMAZING. The top was a little strange but it was coffee filters and she used the metal part of a spiral notebook for clasps for the back of her dress! So creative. Oh and let me just clarify, Blane looked ALOT cuter/manlier/less gay in his Bravotv picture then he did on the show, which is why I thought he was possibly cute and straight, but that's obviously not the case because he didn't stop saying 'girlicious' the entire show.

It's way too late for me to still be awake sooo goodnight!

Tomorrow is the premier of Project Runway. Obv I am looking forward to watching. Although it's kind of sad because this was one show that I used to watch at college with my roommates on our giant comfy couches... It won't be the same watching it at home with the parents. Our couches aren't as big either.

Based completely on their pictures on bravotv.com, here are the people I think I will like:

Blane - 23, Washington. He looks like a laid back surfer. He wears semi tight jeans and a purple hoodie. He has longish blond hair. Pretty cute. (Perhaps he is straight? One can dream...) His fashion 'must' is neon anything!

Kelli - 27, Ohio. She's wearing jeans with bleach stains and holes all over them and a black shirt. She has one whole arm tatted up. Her fashion 'must' is a party dress (omg, me too!). She has her own boutique already. She seems cute.

Wesley - 23, Massachusetts. Oh Wesley. He's wearing really really tight grey pants which are also kinda short. Black shoes and a tight tucked in black button down. Is that a faux hawk? Maybe. His fashion 'must' is big old sunglasses and he describes his style as 'clean, classic and sophisticated.'

Keith - 26, Utah. He's wearing dark jeans, flip flops and a black t-shirt. His fashion 'must' are great fitting jeans, which seems strange cause his own jeans look a bit big (but maybe I've been brainwashed by all these skin tight jeans on guys...).

Some other predictions:

First to be out - Jerry (he will also cry).

Jerrell also looks like a crier.

Emily looks mean. Maybe that's why Jerry is crying...

Judging from her outfit on bravotv.com, I will most likely not like anything that Stella makes. Too many grommets...

The fact that Daniel's fashion 'must' is a novelty blazer makes me not want to like him. A Christian wannabe..?

In an attempt to further improve this already amazing awesome blog, last night I bought the domain www.thefashionhead.com. I am hoping to learn more about domains and hosts and all that kind of stuff. As of this moment, I still have not figured out how to get my .blogspot blog to appear under my fantastic new domain name, so I'm still using the old name. This whole Internet deal is confusing, no? If anyone has any helpful hints on using this new domain name, please let me know!

This weekend was awesome and fun, as usual. I skipped out of work a little early and picked up Courtney in Philly. We hit some traffic on the way down but it wasn't too bad. We arrived around 6, packed a cooler, and headed to the beach where some of the girls already were hanging out. It's lovely and peaceful being on the beach in the evening. We had it completely to ourselves. I cooked up the chicken nugs for dinner and they were a big giant hit. I wore my new black F21 dress with my new red belt and it looked better then I thought it would, so that was a pleasant surprise. After a significant pregame, we danced the night away at the bar and hit up Wawa on the way home where I purchased a wrap and baked chips (a very healthy end of the night meal, if I may say so myself). Saturday was BEAUTIFUL. We literally spent the entire day on the beach with the exception of eating meals and refilling the cooler. I took a shower in our outside shower and it was lovely and refreshing. Showering indoors is highly overrated. On Saturday night I wore my new gold F21 dress, which also looked better then I remembered (maybe the Forever21 dressing room is to blame...). Another night filled with drinking and dancing but unfortunately not healthy meals (mmm... pizza...). We got some beach time in on Sunday before we had to leave. I finished the book I was reading, Rant by Chuck Palahniuk. Next weekend I'm going to start another Chuck P. book, Choke. AND I did not feel sick or hungover at all. All in all, a pretty fantastic weekend!

Tonight's plans include going to the gym and making my sister take some pictures of me in reenacted weekend outfits.

Here are some things I am thankful for on this lovely Friday:

Last night I went to dinner with my bff's from high school and it was fun and awesome. We all live so close to each other and sometimes I take the for granted. It's pretty rare for friends to all move home after college, but we all did. And I'm thankful they're all here. We went to Cosi and sat outside and ate delicious sandwiches and then we made smores. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining.
Its actually Friday (duh)!! This week felt really long and I'm glad its over. I'm leaving for the beach in about 2 hours!
My boss has been on vacation all week and I have taken some ...liberties with my hours. Which is why I may just leave at 3:30 today even though I took a lunch. But the lunch doesn't really count when you don't actually get food, right? I got a quick eyebrow wax and was disappointed by the dress selection at Marshall's but I did pick up a red belt to wear with one of my F21 dresses this weekend...(will there be picture updates of this lovely belted dress, you ask? no, probably not.. Lame...)
The upcoming fun and relaxing weekend at the shore with clean clothes (I finally got around to doing laundry, score).
One of those wish-y things flew into my car yesterday and I made a wish, obviously, so I'm pretty excited for that to come true.
Car karma - I let 2 cars in at a particularly annoying merge point on my way to work - which means I should have no traffic troubles on the way down to the shore. Gotta love car karma... (I know that little black car that cut me off yesterday is sitting in bumper to bumper somewhere right now...)
Aaaand the radio station is playing a block of Grateful Dead RIGHT NOW. Can't get any better then that!

Last night I went on a cheap dress mission. In order to avoid temptation (Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Urban, Free People.. I could go on) I drove right past King of Prussia mall like a good little budget shopper. Instead I headed to my much smaller local mall. Now I remember why I NEVER go to the local mall. It blows. For reals. I went to Charlotte Russe and didn't even find on thing to try on. Where are all the dresses? I headed over to Forever21, determined to at least try things on. I gathered about 8 dresses and took them back. For the most part, they were all ok but it also reminded me why I stopped shopping at F21. The sizes pretty much don't mean anything. I have a dress in a size S from a few years ago, what a joke, but last night some of the L's wouldn't zip which is a tad discouraging cause I'm pretttty sure I'm not an XL... Enough of the sizing complaints. Here are 2 of the 3 dresses I picked up.

Like I said, they're pretty but nothing special. With the 3rd dress and a ring, I ended up spending about $80. I think I would rather have one dress I really like then 3 so-so ones. But I was in a time crunch, I really needed something to wear out this weekend so these will have to do.

While I was riding the elevator in Macy's, some crazy sales lady starts a conversation with me. If you've never seen me in public, I think I come off as fairly unapproachable, which is not an accident. I'm not a huge fan of talking to random people I know, let alone complete strangers. She asked me if I was in school (gotta love that question at 22). When I told her I had a job she asked me where I work. I told her a steel mill, hoping that would shut her up. She then proceeds to offer me a job at Macy's. I said No thanks, my job is full time. Oh, we have full time positions here, she says, would you ever consider leaving your job for a job here? Listen lady, I'm not quitting my engineering job to work at Macy's. She followed me and kept talking about seasonal positions and the great employee discount until I left Macy's...Well, at least if this whole crazy electrical engineering thing doesn't work out, I have a fall back job at Macy's.

Holy crap, how cool are these tights? And I'm definitely not a colored tights kinda gal but I could totally see myself in some of these...

I like the ones with white or grey fading into another color, like orange, pink or light blue. While I was looking around on the Internet for tights like these I came across a DIY from the coveted. All you need is a pair of light colored pantyhose (they say white works best so I'm going to start out with white but I would like to do a light grey pair as well), powered dye in a pretty color, salt, and a bucket. The coveted says to wet the pantyhose first and then dip the stocking into the dye as far as you want the color to go. Then she says to hang the pantyhose in the shower for an hour or so and let gravity create the gradient for you. Her results are here.

I also found another method earlier and I forget the site. They recommended white pantyhose as well. And you'll still need a box of dye, salt, and a bucket. Rinse the tights first then dip the tights into the bucket as far as you want the color to go. Pull the tights out slowly so the feet remain in the dye much longer then the top. You can repeat this process if you are not satisfied with the color. When you are done, wash off the tights but don't ring them out. Hang to dry.

I think I might follow this second method since it seems like it won't create as big of a dye mess as the first. Or maybe I'll go nuts and do both. I'm going to head to CVS and get white tights, and to the craft store to get the dye. Which color? I think I'll probably be boring and start off with a black dye and do a white faded into black look. It seems to be the more wearable. I'll have to get a bucket somewhere but I need a cooler for this weekend so WalMart, here I come. I have a lot left to do this week (make 6 pounds of chicken nuggets, regular and buffalo, for this weekend, get a cooler, buy beer, dye my hair, get my eyebrows done, try to fix my pedicure without actually getting another one, buy some cheap-o F21 dresses for this weekend, take my bff out to dinner for her bday...) so this project will definitely not get done this week but perhaps next week!

They are actually Steve Madden Madden Girl, which is strange because they look rather grown up, no? Like something a school teacher would wear. A sexy schoolteacher...

They look cute with skinny jeans. I need to find a good shirt. Perhaps a button down to go along with the whole school vibe. I think they will be a good 'transition into fall' shoe.

Allow me to explain.

I got down to the beach Thursday night. The traffic wasn't bad but that's only because I have such good car karma (I usually always let people in, I never speed down lanes when I know they are going to end soon, I'm a very nice driver and therefore I don't get caught up in as much traffic as regular drivers because of karma. Duh). There were a few people down at the house. We decided to stay in and drink on the porch, which was a lovely idea since I didn't really feel like going out anyways. We were all just hanging out waiting for everyone to get down. This one kid on our house showed up with... American Flag bandannas for everyone. I immediately grabbed one, I was pretty excited. Now, I just re-read my last post, where I alluded that wearing an actual American Flag would somehow be classless. So I'm not sure why I was so excited for this bandanna. Anyways, the guys were discussing the various ways to wear it (like a full covering bandanna or folded over a la Bruce Springsteen). The girls decided to wear theirs tied around their arms or ankles. I was pretty sure I wanted to wear mine on my head like the guys, but I have no why...

We woke up on Friday feeling refreshed and ready to go. I went for a 5 mile run (well, I ran 2.5 miles then I stopped at my uncles house for water and breakfast, then I ran 2.5 miles back to my house). We got the party started around 3 (well, some people started around noon...). I decided to wear my new Free People dress. I wasn't sure if it would be a good nighttime dress but I think it was. The only problem was it's a tad see-through and I did not bring the proper underwear so I think people probably saw my blue flowered underwear under the dress but I figured it was ok since the dress itself had blue flowers on it (don't you just love drunk reasoning?). After drinking pretty heavily for a few hours, we headed out to happy hour around 6. I decided to wear the bandanna as a bandanna... Maybe not the most classy decision but at the moment I thought I looked ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE (don't you love drunk wardrobe choices?) So I threw on the bandanna along with my white aviators and headed out to the bar. It was pretty hilarious, a lot of pictures were taken but none by me so I have to wait until the photographers decide to put them up before I can share. We lasted at the bar until about 9 at which point most people came home to eat and drink for free (geez, those bar drinks are way overpriced). Mostly everyone passed out and did not make it back out. For some reason, I made it back out (and I also managed to put the bandanna on again... ), which was probably not the best idea. I was so sick the entire day Saturday. All I ate was Tums until about 7pm. It was awful. I did not make it back out Saturday night. I really need to work on better pacing. Goal for this weekend: go out both nights.

Next weekend we might have a little golf pros/tennis hos party so I'm on the lookout for a cute tennis or golf outfit that is not only adorable and fashionable, but also ho-ish. Gotta fit in, ya know.

I hit up King of Prussia after work yesterday. I went into DSW first, which was a mistake I guess because I ended up spending like $100... The first pair of shoes I got is purely an influence of reading fashion blogs. I can't imagine myself even giving these shoes a second look let alone trying them on and buying them before I became so enthralled with the fashion blog world. I was just going to post a generic picture of the shoes from the web but I think I'll save it and actually post an outfit picture with them. I also picked up this hot pair of Steve Madden platform heels. Apparently Karla from Karla's Closet thought they were awesome and amazing as well, cause she bought them too and you can see her in them here. Adorable, no? Can't wait to wear them.

I strolled over to Bloomingdales and it was kind of underwhelming. I tried on a few things but I only ended up getting this one Free People dress.

It's really pretty. I'm not sure if it will look ok as a night-time-going-out dress, but we'll see....

I went to Urban on my way out and I tried on eight dresses and I didn't get a single one! That bubble one looked absolutely ridiculous, as predicted. I have no idea how people can pull those crazy things off. I almost got that beautiful green dress with the pink buttons that I've talked about a bunch of times but I resisted again. Not sure why. There were some cute dresses but none of them were worth their price tags, in my opinion.

Last night we went to trivia at this bar in West Chester. We started off pretty strong, and peaked in the second round. Some highlights:

I got a new phone last night!

A little about my cell phone history: My first phone was that really thick navy blue Nokia phone back in high school. You know, the one that had Snake and didn't flip closed. Sophomore year of college, I convinced my parents that I was the ONLY person at Lehigh with a phone that old (and that really wasn't a lie). So we got new phones for Christmas that year, new FLIP phones. I felt so fancy even though they were basic Cingular phones, no screen or anything. I had this phone until Senior year when the screen started to act all crazy. My friend Maggie had an extra phone and generously gave it to me. It was basically the same phone but with a screen, which I thought was super neat. One afternoon senior year I was walking to class in the rain and texting, and I guess my phone got too wet and the pound button stopped working. The pound button, big deal, right? Well, the pound button is the space bar for text messages. For the past year and a half all of my text messages have.looked.like.this. Some people thought I was strange, others thought I was trying to start a no space trend... And I wasn't able to download any ringtones so my phone had the lame generic ring, so UNCOOL. So you can imagine my excitement for my brand new phone.

I got the LG shine! It's the phone on the commercial with LC! It's shiny and has a mirror so when I am not talking about myself I can be staring at myself!! It's really the perfect phone for me.

The things I have to get used to: the keys are pretty tiny so sending text messages is a little more challenging, and I have tiny fingers! I'm not sure how people with big hands would be able to text or even dial well... I got my old ringtone back (China Grove by Doobie Brothers, obv) but it doesn't have very good text message tones and I'm not sure if you can download new ones (anyone know?).

Things that I love already: I can send mass text messages, I can have spaces between my words in text messages, I can put my phone on silent by holding down pound (it was such a bother without that freaking pound key), plus it's just pretty looking.

Tonight I am hitting up Bloomingdales and DSW and possibly FP and Urban on my way home from work to get some good dresses for this loooong weekend down the shore. Shockingly, I have already worn all my dresses so I need some new ones to throw into the mix. The Bloom website sucks so much I don't usually do any pre-shopping on it. The Urban one, on the other hand, it quite lovely and has a lot of dresses on it. I would gladly take any of these:

So on the hilarious radio show I listen to every morning they were interviewing Duff McKagen from Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver. He has started this new website along with some guy from Presidents of the Unites States of America (Peaches!!). The site is nuTsie.com. So basically you can go to the site and join it and upload your iTunes library from your home PC. The site gets all the information from your library (not the actual songs) and saves it under your name. THEN, you can log into the site from any PC and listen to ALL your songs. PLUS, you can listen to other user's playlists. Then they also have a ton of lists like Top Songs by Year (but its user chosen, not Billboard top songs), 100 Greatest Rock Ballads, 100 Greatest Rap/Hip Hop Songs, 100 Greatest Disco Songs (haha), Greatest Cover Songs, ect. You can listen to all of these songs for freeeee. I'm sure there are other sites like this out there (pandora comes to mind but you never actually got to pick specific songs, you just had to listen to the playlist they created for you) but this one sounds pretty neat. I plan on uploading my library when I get home tonight. I'm excited because I think this will be a good way to discover new music, like if you find a playlist with a lot of songs you like one it but some you don't know, chances are you'll like those songs too. I'm all about discovering new music. Totally man. Oh and for all you fancy phone carrying peoples, for a subscription price you can also access all of these songs from your BlackBerry or whatever it is you important people carry.

And I am back from my little beach vacation. It was lovely, relaxing and non-relaxing, and I got to see not only my friends but also my family, whom I love love love. We got down Thursday morning and everyone took a nap. We basically just laid around all day, ate, watched tv, read books. We didn't even make it to the beach! Friday I was determined to work on my tan level so I spent most of the day on the beach or laying out in my uncles back yard. Friday night was crazy as usual. I wore my new French Connection purple halter dress. It was so fun and girly and pretty. I was just twirling around in it all night. Saturday was spent on my uncle's boat and playing games with my little cousins. Oh, and eating and watching tv and laying around. We tried to make it out to happy hour but ended up drinking too much at the house and just stayed in and grilled. Saturday night pretty awesome. I wore my lovely Free People dress with the lacy bandeau top underneath. The general consensus was good so I ripped off the tags. I thought this would be a great opportunity to show off my leather braided hippie headband so I put it on. The girls thought I looked a little too hippie but I didn't care, I wore it out anyway. It was adorable, in my opinion. Unfortunately I got too attached to the look and I refused to take off the headband and put my hair up at the bar which lead to a lot of unnecessary sweating and also an early departure. Oh the things I do for fashion.

I ended up staying down last night. I went to happy hour and dinner with the family. I was so tired I fell asleep around 9, which was good because I had to wake up at 5 to drive home for work. It was worth it though, cause happy hour was fun and dinner was delicious and I'm not really that tired (yet) and I got into work so early that I can leave at 3. Score. Untz.

As usual, I took zero picture. But my uncle took a ton, my sister took a few and I'm sure the people in my house took some so maybe I'll have something to show. Probably not. I really have to stop talking about pictures here.

More good news - Friday is 4th of July! A day off work! Another short week! I need to get some new adorable dresses for the upcoming weekend so I'm planning on hitting up Bloomingdales later in the week to use those lovely coupons I acquired by spending so much money at the last sale...

free people solves all my problems

I headed over to Bloom tonight to get that pesky security tag taken off my dress. I also TRAGICALLY returned my Foley + Corinna purse. While the sales ladies were trying to figure out the return, I almost manically grabbed the bag off the counter and screamed IT'S MINE, I WANT TO KEEP IT, I'VE CHANGED MY MIND. But I resisted. In the end it was the best decision. I now have some extra cash to put towards a purse that is not only adorable but also wearable. The Free People dress, on the other hand, I have decided to keep. My first thought was to hit up AA and try to find a racer back tank top that I could wear under the dress. While I was in Free People, I came across these lovely lacy bandeau tops that I thought might work. I wasn't sure what would look the best so I got in both black and taupe.

Here is in in taupe. It's the Scalloped Lace Bandeau top. I am guessing that small boobied ladies can wear this instead of a bra which would look adorable. My plan is to wear it over my bra so my cleavage isn't so... out there. I think it will still look sexy but it will keep me more covered. I tried it on under the FP dress and it looked pretty good. I am going to be bringing it down the shore to get everyone's opinion before I take the tags off the dress though. And the black one looks great under a lot of my cleavage bearing dresses. I think I will get a lot of use out of these little guys. Score.

Oh, I also picked up some new sunglasses. As you know, I broke my white F21 ones, I lost my giant pink F21 ones, and, most devastating of all, last weekend I broke my Ed Hardy's. I am so pissed at myself for not putting them back in their badass case. I suck. I left them in a plastic bag on my bedroom floor down the shore and I must have drunkenly stepped on them a few times when I got back from the bar. I am going to try to get them repaired somehow. Anyways, here are the shades I picked up from Free People...

The following has nothing to do with fashion. Sometimes I do think about things other then clothes and drinking and boys and stickers. After reading all the Kurt Vonnegut books, I now have turned to Chuck Palahniuk. I read Fight Club awhile ago and I think I remember liking it (I have a bizarrely awful memory when it comes to the plots of books or movies). I was perusing the book store on the boardwalk last weekend and I came across Rant (I think it's his new one, no?) I bought it cause it was the only book without a lady or a beach on the cover. Anyways, so far so good. So tonight I picked up Survivor and Stranger then Fiction to read this weekend. We decided not to head down until tomorrow morning so I spent the night cleaning my room, packing and watching Kill Bill.

So hopefully there will be more pictures of outfits this weekend since I'll be with the family and more inclined to ask them to snap some shots. But obv don't get your hopes up. I've let you down before and I'll do it again.

Last night I went to trivia at a bar by work with some of the guys I work with. It was fun and entertaining. It reaffirmed the fact that I know absolutely nothing about anything. I'm not sure why I love trivia so much considering I've never answered a single question.. Anyways, I wore jeans and a white AA tee with a ton of turquoise necklaces and rings. Pretty adorable. Sorry that was such a lame fashion update, I didn't get home until after midnight last night so I am kinda sleepy/out of it now.

But good news is today is my Friday! I took vacation days tomorrow and Friday and I am driving down the shore tonight with my mom and sister. I am excited to have a nice relaxing non drinking night down the shore. Tomorrow I will be at the beach allll day (jealous, suckers?). I meant to take that lovely purple halter dress back to Bloom to get the security tag thingy removed but I forgot to bring it to work with me so it looks like it will have to wait yet another week before making its debut. Tragic.

So this weekend I brought my camera down the shore and guess how many pictures I took? Zero. I suck. The highlight of the weekend was definitely the Jort dance party that the guys in our house put on for us on Saturday evening. In case you are unfamiliar with the Jort (and I'm not sure why I feel the need to capitalize it...), its the lovely combination of jean and shorts. They are typically worn by sometimes fashionable women but mostly unfashionable men and women. They guys had apparently gotten together and declared it Jorts Weekend. For most of them it consisted of getting into their girlfriends or sisters jean shorts and prancing around in our living room in them. It was quite a hilarious scene. Unfortunately they all got changed before going out in public but everyone took a ton of pictures so the memory will live on.

Also, the giant gold lobster necklace made its debut this weekend but it was a post Happy Hour semi drunk accessory decision so it was probably not the best choice. I wore it with my flowery Lux dress and you couldn't really see the lobster. Oh well, at least it made it out of my jewelry box...

teenagers banned from the mall?

The Christiana Mall in Delaware is soon going to restrict the entry of teenagers into their mall. They will be IDing all kids at the doors, and if you're under 18 the only way you'll be let in is if you're accompanied by a parent. Those who are over 18 will get wristbands which will allow them to shop and hang out. This is happening because a lot of fights (fist fights and food fights, apparently) have been happening all too frequently there. At first, it didn't seem like such a bad idea. Adults want to feel comfortable to shop and enjoy the mall without witnessing two teenage girls beat the crap out of each other, or getting fries thrown at their heads. But then I got to thinking (and it's never a good thing when I get to thinking) what if this had happened when I was still 14 or 15. I have a pretty awful memory, but I'm fairly certain we hung out at the mall a lot. What else was there to do besides mall, movies, and bowling/mini golf? Plus, if you ban the mall, the fighting kids will still fight somewhere, but it will probably be somewhere more dangerous. I think it's a little silly and a tad overkill. It seems like you could just take the all security personal at the doors IDing kids and just have them patrol the mall more frequently, the problem would be solved without having to resort to such a ban. But hey, what do I know?

Actually, what I do know is how sad I would have been if I never got a chance to own all the lovely things I bought at the mall during my unsupervised teenage years:

This includes but is certainly not limited to: flannel shirts (not simply plaid, FLANNEL), giant JNCO's, surfer shirts and skater shoes (and surprisingly, I was neither), rainbow belts, colorful tube socks, GLITTER in all its forms, Doc's, overalls WITH homemade patches, tiny little backpacks, safety pin earrings (or moons, or stars, or scissors, or mushrooms, or turtles...), and anything from LimitedToo I could get my hands on.

And this doesn't even include not being able to go to buy a new CD, hit up Chick-Fil-A, or get one of those cute little picture key chains with all your friends.... Boy, we are living in harsh times....

So on my relaxing day off yesterday, amongst watching awkward episodes of Sister Sister (the one where Ray wouldn't let one of them date this guy who works as a mechanic for him, and whichever one it was goes 'You're not my father!' Probably one of the best general lines in teenage television history) I got around to trying on the pretty Free People dress I ordered on Bloomingdales.com. It is just so beautiful, lovely red and purple colors with amazing brown crisscross straps with little beads all over them. However, its really quite short. Like cho-cha bearing short. And the chest-area is so tiny that it's semi unflattering. One or the other would have been ok, but the combination of both screams 'I can't dress my body properly' which is never something I want to scream. So the dress must go. However, since I only got the 40% discount because of the total of the purchase, I had to reconsider the lovely Foley + Corrina purse as well. I decided, reluctantly, to return the purse as well. It's not as versatile as I thought it would be. I thought I could adjust the strap so the purse would sit at my waist, but the strap is one size only and leaves the purse hanging right under my arm. Which makes it hard to open and get anything out of, since the top is folded over. Plus the lovely people over at Bloom left the security sensor on my Pretty Grungy dress so I have to head back to the store anyway. I'll probably do that tomorrow at some point. Good thing I have two $15 off gift certs from spending so much money during that damn sale...

Can't think of much else to write. I might do some Polyvoring or Haiku writing to waste some time, but don't wait up for me.

So you may be wondering where I've been. Here we go: drank too much on Friday, had to wake up and drive home from the shore on the verge of vomiting, got home and ate a piece of cold pizza, tried to take a quick nap, couldn't, left for the Jimmy Buffett concert, threw up the pizza (sorry), drank a lot of water, hung out with drunk parrotheads, forgot the camera (sorry again), danced to Jimmy Buffett (he's awesome), slept in the car ride back, woke up and went into work from noon - 6 (on a Sunday! Boo!), came home and ate dinner, didn't vom (!), went to bed, worked on Monday from 7:30AM to 5:30PM, came home and took a quick nap, worked again from 8:30PM to freaking 3 in the morning, went to bed, woke up, gave myself the day off. So here I am, watching What Not To Wear and blogging at 1 on a Tuesday. It's kinda strange having a day off during the week. You know what else is also strange, working 16 hours in one day. Crazy steel mill.

In fashion related news, I got my Bloom order in the mail yesterday. As you can imagine, I didn't have time or energy to open the box and try on my new dress or cuddle with my new purse yesterday. It was kind of an (super expensive) impulse buy so I have to take a look at them again to make sure they are worth it.

Other then all that, I've been really just spending time thinking of High Fashion Haiku's to enter DaddyLikey's contest.

I was going to blog some crazy fashion-y things today but I think I might just watch WorkOut and lay on the couch instead. My tiny little brain is tired from spending so much time working on computers yesterday. I need a break.

I just got this email from Anthro telling me that they now offer free personal shopping. You can just call up a store and make an appointment with their personal shopper. I guess you tell them your sizes and what you like and they will have a bunch of stuff already ready for you to try on. Plus they will stay with you while you try things on and give their opinions and get new sizes as needed. Seems like a pretty fancy service to be giving away for free. I would maybe do it once to feel cool and special but honestly, walking around Anthro and discovering things is one of my favorite shopping experiences. I love just being in that store. I'm not sure how much I would trust another person to pick out my clothes for me, although a second set of unbiased (aka not a friend) eyes couldn't hurt in the dressing room....

Tonight I am headed down the shore. I am going to try to take my sister's camera to get some good photos in.

More importantly, tomorrow I am coming home to go to the JIMMY BUFFETT concert.

If you didn't know, I am a GIANT Jimmy Buffett fan. He is my favorite singer and absolutely hands down my favorite to see live. His concerts are amazingly fun and crazy. I have been to approx. 26 (I am a second generation parrot head, what can I say?) The concert starts around 9 and a few of my parents wild friends are getting down to the tailgate parking lot at 9AM. AM!! Crazy kids. I love it when I get out-partied by the old folks. They are bringing a party bus and a kiddie pool (or 2) and they are actually getting sand delivered (so I hear). Quite a scene. I am DEFINITELY taking her camera for that. Hopefully I'll get some fantastic hilarious 'street shots' of parrot heads in their full glory.

Maybe the shoe designer for Ruthie Davis shoes is Ruthie from the Real World Hawaii. Remember? Sure you do! She was always wasted and falling into things, breaking glasses and jumping into pools naked, making out with guys... and girls (or wait, did she ever make out with guys?). Ring a bell? what a disaster

Last night after work I met Court at King of Prussia for the Bloomingdale's sale. I got there a little early, so I hit up Urban Outfitters which was my first mistake. I tried on a bunch of things but nothing really stood out (probably because I already own like all of the Lux dresses...). I did think this dress was pretty adorable:

But unfortunately it wasn't $118 adorable. I do love the color though. And the buttons. And the neckline. OH GOOD GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE?

I have successfully avoided the graphic tee's from Urban. They are cute and sure, sometimes they say funny things about peace and Obama, but I never found one that seemed worth the rather steep price. Until last night...

How could I resist? I know real dead heads would probably make fun of me for buying a shirt from Urban, but hopefully real dead heads don't shop at Urban and won't know...

I also picked up a really pretty teal suede shoulder bag with a ton of fringe. It is such a beautiful teal color. Can't find a picture of it anywhere... (But we did get the damaged camera back and it's all better so maybe I'll actually start to use it...)

Thank goodness Courtney showed up because I was going a little crazy with the pre-shopping. We headed over to Bloomingdale's. I tried on a bunch of things, mostly dresses, and I wasn't too impressed. I did love and end up getting this beautiful French Connection ombre halter dress:

It's called the Pretty Grunge Halter Dress, which is adorable. And those bows!!

I really wanted this Free People dress I saw some adorable girl wearing at the Bike Race on Sunday. They have it in white and red, and in the store they only had the white in my size. The white was a tad see through so I decided to just order the red online when I got home. We went upstairs to the shoe department. I found these adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs sandals but they were waaay out of my price range so I didn't even bother trying them on. The promotional sale was 25% off when you buy two pairs, and since Court was trying on an adorable pair of Aqua wedges, I figured what the heck, I'll just try them on. Well. They. Were. Adorable. As expected. I figured out the price with the discount and my coupons and decided to go for it. Well, they were apparently on sale before the discount and coupons were figured it, and they ended up being about 70% off. I don't know why these silly Bloomingdale's people don't advertise their sales better. I'm sure way more people would try on and buy these shoes if they knew they were on CRAZY sale. It's like Bloomingdale's is just trying to see how serious you are about shoes. Like if you're willing to spend the actual price, you must be pretty committed to looking adorable and fashionable so surprise!! Here is an extremely awesome discount!!

I went on Bloomingdale's website after I got home to look for the dress. It's adorable so I decided to order it in the color I wanted. Here is it:

The website was also having a sale, score, so I decided to seize the opportunity and get the Foley and Corrina Mid City tote in light brown. I'm tired of finding pictures, and I'm sure everyone and their mother knows what the bag looks like. I'm so excited!

Another flickr mosaic game, this time the idea was stolen from Hyena In Petticoats and all the pictures are from the lovely year of my birth, 1985. The search turned up a LOT of punks (Mohawks and leather and just general rebelliousness) and strangely enough a lot of double-decker buses (which I thought was really weird until I realized it was probably all from one person's album from a double-decker bus filled day back in '85). I like how most of the pictures are red which was by accident but makes the collage look nicer, I think. The Grateful Dead tickets were neat because there is a pretty big chance my dad was actually at that particular show. I found the 'Sacrifice of Isaac' sculpture from Tel Aviv particularly interesting because we have the same sculpture by the gym at Lehigh. I never knew what it was before. To me it always looked like a half a bull with half a upside down smiley face. We had a lot of strange and interesting sculptures all over campus and they were all so interesting (who can forget the little man reading the book, or those creepy kids sitting in the bushes by the cafeteria? And that one that looked like a part of the female anatomy...Oh! and the giant colorful ribbon one?).

Tonight is the first day of a pretty big sale at Bloomingdales for the Insider members (so exclusive, I know) so I'm hitting it up after work with Court and Em. Pretty picture posts to follow!

your hair and your fashion sense.

Do you think that your natural hair type influences your fashion sense? I have naturally curly hair, and my style tends towards the bohemian side of things. I associate curls with the hippie look. I like how curls look messy and natural and a little unkempt (I think I have fully straightened my hair like 4 times in my life). Similarly, I go for the 'calculated messy' style, if that makes any sense (over sized shirts, dresses with boots, flow-y anything, headbands, funky jewelry). My bff Court, on the other hand, has stick straight hair, and her style is more preppy and put together (nautical, more classic rather then trendy). I started to wonder, if we had each other's hair types, would our fashion style remain the same? I have had curly hair for the majority of my life so I think that it probably played a part in the development of my style. Do you think your hair plays a part in how you dress? Do you straighten your naturally curly hair (or curl your straight locks) depending on what kind of look you are going for and outfit you are wearing? Do you agree straight hair ladies tend towards a more preppy look while curly haired girls go for bohemian?

Speaking of bohemian, I spent some time today on ebay looking for some good vintage dresses. I was inspired by FashionToast and Liebemarlene's ebay stores so I started to look up other vintage store. I found two great ones, and I placed bids on 3 dresses! I'm so excited... I'll post pics AFTER I win them...

It was 100 degrees today when I got in my car after work at 4:30. 100 degrees at 4:30!!!

dry clean only

As you know, I had crammed my entire summer wardrobe into my ultra fashionable duffel for Memorial Day weekend and, like I had predicted, every single item of clothing remained in my car until I returned to the shore on the following weekend. By that time everything was wrinkled and a tad smelly, but I managed. Earlier this week I finally got around to bringing my extensive shore wardrobe inside the house. Since then it has just sat on my floor, forming giant clothes mountains (which can be fun and quite comfy until you encounter a rouge heel or bottle of hairspray...) Unfortunately, the mountains of clothing have reached an insurmountable height. I didn't want to admit it, but a laundry night was in order. So last night I caved and began to do my laundry from Memorial Day weekend. Since most of the items were being washed for the first time, I took the time to read the labels and separate the 'machine wash'-ables from the 'hand-wash' items. But mainly I just wanted make sure I didn't wash any 'dry clean only' stuff. (I had a pretty purple, grey and blue flowery dress by Lux from Urban that I assumed was ok to wash and when it came out it I exclaimed 'What is this? A dress for ANTS?' Tragic.) My Ella Moss dress (which is really only acceptable as a beach cover up because of its fairly unflattering shape) is dry clean only. Annoying, but expected from a label such as the Moss. Then I came across my lame little navy blue knit top from FOREVER21. I almost tossed it in without even reading the label because, hey, its Forever21. I was shocked and horrified to read 'Dry Clean Only'. Who do you think you are, Forever21? Dry clean only! The dry cleaning is going to cost more then the shirt itself! What a sham. I tried to find a picture of it on the F21 website but no luck. Man, if my dad still didn't pick up and pay for all my dry cleaning, I would be pretty heated right about now...
